BMI calculator.
Calculate adult BMI and reference ranges.
Your BMI reference
Healthy weight range
Reference ranges are adult screening tools; BMI does not measure body fat or diagnose health.
Calculated from: 65.0 kg · 168 cm
Understand adult BMI and its limits
BMI = weight in kilograms ÷ height in metres squared. At 70 kg and 1.75 m, 70 ÷ 1.75² is about 22.9. Imperial inputs are converted before applying the same calculation. Adult categories are a screening reference, not a diagnosis of health.
BMI does not distinguish muscle from fat or describe fat distribution. People with high muscle mass and different population backgrounds may need other assessment. It is not body-fat percentage: do not enter a BMI result into a Katch body-fat field.
This adult tool does not apply children’s age-specific percentiles. For daily energy estimates, use the TDEE calculator; BMI alone should not determine an intake or weight-loss plan.

Equations, assumptions and limitations.
What does BMI tell me?
BMI compares weight with height using kg/m². The category is an adult screening reference, not a diagnosis or a direct measure of body fat.
Can BMI account for muscle and body composition?
No. People with different amounts of muscle and fat can have the same BMI. Use the reference with its limitations in mind.
Who is this calculator for?
The displayed categories are for adults. They are not intended to assess children, pregnancy or individual medical conditions.
Where is my information stored?
Calculations run in your browser. This tab temporarily keeps your working details when switching tools or languages; closing it clears them. Remember my details saves a persistent profile only if you choose it. Journal entries stay in local browser storage. Sharing puts your chosen inputs into the link, where anyone with it can read them.
